Fish & Co. - Review

Mr Pickled Cumquat asks where I would like to go for my birthday I respond with something along the lines of “seafood? actually I don't mind you choose”; admittedly the only day spare during the week of my birthday is a Friday night due to work commitments.

I get home and Mr Pickled Cumquat says we are heading out to Fishand Co. – The Sustainable Seafood Cafe, before I have a chance to research this place (as I normally do); it has been done for me, which was nice

We set out and head in to Annandale; park in a side street and walk to a little café called Fish and Co, we are greeted by a lovely waitress who knows we have booking but still gives us the option of sitting outside, we take her up on this offer and are seated in between two other couples one couple with a very cute Border Collie dining next to them.

This café has a very relaxed vibe about it, the layout is nice and the location is great. You could easily walk past this café and think hmmm will I or won’t I go in. I can strongly suggest taking the step and going inside – but be sure to book of an evening!

We ordered Salt and pepper cuttlefish with fresh chilli jam and Organic mussel and zucchini fritters with lemon and basil dressing as a starter both were very fresh and the flavours were delicious, there were lots of mmmmmm noises from both of us and the only time we spoke was after devoured the starters!

We look at each other and wonder if we have ordered too much as we seem to be quite full from our starters as they were very generous in size, we wait around 45 minutes which is a good amount of time and our mains come out.

We ordered beer battered fish and chips with home made tartare sauce and Spaghetti with Spencer Gulf prawns, organic mussels and cuttlefish with garlic, chilli, parsley and white wine. Both mains were amazing and I can highly recommend both.

All dishes were a credit to Chef Tom Kime and I can highly recommend this little café for a great meal in a fantastic location.

I must also thank Tom for taking the photos of the dishes, as it was my birthday I wanted a night off from taking photos, so Tom kindly photographed them and emailed them to me.
